ATTORNEY BOB PUTERBAUGH TO RECEIVE HONORARY DOCTORATE AT FSC WINTER COMMENCEMENT - Noted local attorney Bob Puterbaugh will be honored by Florida Southern College for his distinguished service to the community with an honorary degree at the college’s winter commencement ceremony on December 16. Mr. Puterbaugh, a longtime partner in the firm of Peterson & Myers, P.A., will be honored with the degree of doctor of humane letters during the commencement ceremony for undergraduate students at 10:30 a.m. in Branscomb Auditorium. Mr. Puterbaugh has served for many years as FSC’s legal counsel and also on its Board of Trustees. He is well known for his pro bono work and as an expert in the field of healthcare law, serving as senior counsel to the board of directors of Lakeland Regional Health Center. He also has been a vigorous supporter of the arts in Lakeland, especially the Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College, where he is a past president.

Safety Request

A reminder for any students leaving their vehicle on campus during the Christmas Break – you must display a valid hang tag. Those vehicles which do not have a valid hang tag are subject to be towed off campus property. This includes all off campus housing complexes. Additionally, please make sure all vehicles are locked and no personal items are left in plain view.  It is also recommended that you park your vehicle in a well-lighted area. You DO NOT  have to register your vehicle with Campus Safety & Security during the break. Parking restrictions in the upper portion of VJ Lot, which is by the Citrus Building, will be enforced during the break.   If you have any questions regarding parking during the break, please contact Bill Carew at wcarew@flsouthern.edu

Winter Break

Communities Close - Thursday, December 14 at noon

Communities Open - Sunday, January 7 at noon

Only Apartment and Off Campus House residents are able to stay over Winter Break.

If you need to remain on campus, you must register by Friday, December 8 by 5:00 PM.
There is a $150 charge for winter break and an additional $15 late fee if received after deadline.
December Graduates Check-Out - Sunday, December 17 by noon with a Community Living Staff member.

Academic Fuel

FSC Writing Center - The FSC Writing Center is located on the first floor of the Rogers Building. Make an appointment online at Setmore, call 863.680.4983 or come to the Center in person to make an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring any helpful assignment information. Appointments are typically 30 minutes per visit.

Scholars Strengthening Scholars (S3) - S3 will take place in the Student Solutions Center Lounge, Rogers 128.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) - Students seeking support for coursework in a particular math or science course are welcome to group work sessions. PASS Leaders work directly with faculty to reinforce material learned in class.

Shuttle Service

Student Government and the Department of Campus Safety and Security have combined efforts to better coordinate the shuttle service and will now provide fixed shuttle stops. You will no longer call a number for service, but instead will have fixed times at each stop. Scheduled stops will be:

  • Colony Arms
  • Harvard Road
  • Library
  • Lake Hollingsworth Apartments
  • Lake Morton Apartments
  • Garden Apartments

Shuttles will also be numbered. Look for signs at each stop listing the times in the morning and afternoon.
