Important 10% Mandatory Date:
The 10% date is a measure of the student’s commitment to the course. You will be required to reply to the post listed 10%, on and no later than 3/11/2020. This assignment will be inside of Week’s One discussion.
There is no exception to this posting which will be included in the posting grade and submitted to the registrar's office for attendance and course commitment. Students who do not submit the assignment prior to the 10% date will automatically be withdrawn from the course. The 10% date to have a posting of substance is 3/11/2020.

Statement on Engaged Learning and Instructional Technology
- Exams will be administered online settings to assess the acquisition of factual knowledge from lectures.
- Students may be assigned to view films, internet clips, news articles, etc. during the semester pertaining to relevant criminal justice issues. Students will be asked to take notes, complete critical thinking online group posting exercises, and/or participate in an online group discussion based on these materials.
- Students will contact a criminal justice professional and conduct an interview. This experience will teach students networking skills, professionalism, and allow for one-on-one interactions with a professional who is active in the field.
- Students will participate in online group discussions that will include online posting in the group discussion for each assignment with a minimum wording and a required responding to no less than two other students posting, with a set word minimum.
- Presentations will post in the form of APA papers utilized so students may practice the use of technology that is shared with fellow students as it would be in a work career setting.
- PowerPoint will be utilized to convey chapter material and assist in organized notetaking.
- The FSC Portal will be utilized to distribute all class information and instructions.
Course Requirements:

Online Participation: Students are expected to complete assigned readings before entering the online class in order to contribute meaningful online-class group discussion. At times, you may be given materials online or asked to check for posted readings that you will be required to have prepared for group-class discussion. Online group discussion adds to the enrichment of the cyber-online classroom experience and overall student learning.
Textbook:
The textbook used has a wealth of important, and relevant information, however, due to the length of this course, which is 7 weeks, it will allow this course to focus on the chapters listed in the syllabus. If time allowed, please review other chapters throughout the textbook and keep the text for future criminology references.
